PMO as a Sherpa
February, 2021 – Guy Thorpe – (3 min read)
Is a #PMO a lot like a Sherpa?
Sherpa are highly regarded as skilled mountaineers and experts in their local area. They act as invaluable guides to climbers in the Himalayan region in the extreme altitudes of the peaks and passes, particularly for expeditions to climb Mount Everest.
New Zealand’s much-revered Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to reach the summit of Everest – 29th of May 1953 was supported by Tenzing Norgay (Sherpa Tenzing) who side by side helped Hillary achieve this incredible feat.
Much like a Sherpa, a high functioning PMO plays a strong supporting role in helping the organisations they serve to achieve climbing their own Mount Everest.
What are your thoughts, are PMO’s like Sherpa? Or something else?
