Risk Matrix

The greatest Project Sponsors I have worked with were visionaries, here’s what they did…..

One of the key roles they innately understood of a good Project Sponsor was selling their vision. Selling it to the Project Manager, the Project Team, and the organisation that will benefit. As part of that vision, they could clearly articulate the problem the project was solving or the opportunity it was seizing, which equated to the project’s “why”.

It wasn’t just one-off speeches at project kick-off either, these Project Sponsors continually championed their projects and were the voice that shined a spotlight on the value the project would bring even when delivery got tough (and it did).

They also didn’t expect their Project Manager to do this for them, they personally owned their vision and the selling of it, until it came to fruition.

What’s your experience with Sponsors owning their vision?

The PMO Value Proposition

So what’s the PMO’s Value Prop? That’s the question a CEO of a major Healthcare organisation once asked me when I was in the initial stages of helping revitalise their existing PMO. It is an incredibly astute question as it cuts to the heart of what value/ benefit she could expect to get from engaging with their PMO.
